Planning with Purpose in Social Studies
Are you ready to build your professional learning network as you plan for the new school year? Planning with Purpose is a year-long 5-day opportunity to use the Backwards Design process to map out the year while working with other teachers planning the same grade level or content. Teachers will receive a copy of "From Story to Judgment: The Four Question Method for Teaching and Learning Social Studies". We will Zoom with the book authors and learn to the power of using narrative to teach social studies. Teachers will use individual district calendars and their YAG to map the year before starting to plan. Teachers will work in groups to develop whole units. The day will be fast-paced and teacher-centered. We will spend most of the day planning, collaborating, and working with others. Additional Planning with Purpose dates: September 21, November 10, February 13, and April 11.
