Westwood ISD: Reading for a Purpose?

You want me to annotate? What do you mean "have a conversation with the text?" Utilizing excerpts and tools from the Beers and Probst publications "Notice and Note: Nonfiction" and "Notice and Note: Fiction," participants will strengthen and equip their toolbox when asking students to read with a purpose. "Notice and Note" highlights the idea of using signposts, or reading stop signs, while reading fiction and non-fiction text. Meaning? These reading stop signs can be used in ALL subject areas, and they drive purposeful reading leading to high level discussions!
