An essential component of supporting emergent bilinguals in developing literacy is understanding cross-linguistic transfer. When emergent bilinguals use knowledge of one language to support learning another, the superpower of bilingualism is unlocked. But CLT doesn’t just happen—it requires explicit instruction, so students can learn to make those connections on their own. Let's build a bridge and cross it together! (Levers 2 and 4)
