Algunos temas incluirán las diferencias y similitudes entre las destrezas esenciales para artes del lenguaje y lectura en español y en inglés (SLAR and ELAR), y las conexiones interlingüísticas entre los dos idiomas y la transferencia de las habilidades de lectura y escritura del lenguaje primario (L1) al segundo lenguaje (L2).
