Mathematics Achievement Academy, Leadership Overview

Through hands-on activities focusing on number concepts and relationships, whole number operations, and beginning fraction concepts, these academies are designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of mathematics concepts and processes, improve overall mathematics instruction, and lead to student success on statewide assessments and post-secondary readiness. Participants will Identify instructional components that develop fluency and number sense based on robust conceptual and procedural understandings, review the structure of the Mathematics Achievement Academy system, and make connections to teacher development. Participants will understand appropriate applications of problem-solving and discourse in the mathematics classroom, identify components of the Mathematics Achievement Academies in instructional practices, and support the implementation of Mathematics Achievement Academy content.
