Three-Dimensional Instruction in Grades 3-5

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Join Dr. Victor Sampson, Associate Professor of STEM Education, University of Texas at Austin, for an engaging exploration of three-dimensional instruction in science education for grades 3-5. Participants will:

- Deepen their understanding of the three dimensions of science instruction and the nature of three-dimensional learning.
- Experience a hands-on, 3D lesson focused on forces and motion.
- Develop clear criteria to identify what constitutes authentic 3D instruction.
- Explore how student engagement in Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) evolves from kindergarten through 12th grade.
- Learn how students' understanding and use of Recurring Themes and Concepts (RTCs) progress across grade levels, enabling deeper connections to scientific phenomena.

This workshop is ideal for educators seeking to enhance student-centered, inquiry-based science learning in alignment with 3D instructional frameworks.

*Dr. Sampson will return on Friday, August 1st to discuss 3D performance assessments with elementary teachers. We hope you join us for both sessions.
