Empowering Strong Foundations: Handwriting & Composition for Early Writers

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

In this engaging and interactive professional development session, educators will explore research-based strategies for teaching handwriting and early composition to PreK–2nd grade students. The morning session will focus on effective handwriting instruction, including fine motor development, letter formation, multi-sensory techniques, and classroom implementation. Educators will participate in hands-on activities to reinforce best practices and address common challenges.

The afternoon session will shift to composition instruction. Teachers will learn how to scaffold early writing, use sentence frames and graphic organizers, and implement mini-lessons that build students’ confidence and writing fluency. Through interactive discussions, real-world classroom examples, and practical application, participants will leave with actionable strategies to support young writers in developing strong handwriting and composition skills.

This session is designed to provide educators with research-backed insights, hands-on experiences, and classroom-ready tools to enhance early literacy instruction.
