Making Math Memorable - A “Hat-Trick” Review for STAAR
10:30 AM - 11:10 AM
Aspen Room
A "HAT-TRICK" is when a hockey player scores three goals, and we invite you to let this session be your “hat-trick” for mathematics learning! Join Rice University's OpenStax team as we engage in STAAR review activities. A fun way to make learning stick, these three-part activities were developed with the goal of helping students engage with the FREE Algebra 1 resource and then play games based on their work. Teachers can adapt the materials to support review for first-time test-takers or re-testers, as well as chunking it according to what their schedules allow. In addition, the activities are editable and licensed under a creative commons license, so even if you don’t teach Algebra 1, you might enjoy “stripping the puck” and using the resources for your own course!
