Behavior 101 and PBIS Tier 1 24-25

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Understanding how behavior is learned and the purpose it serves is critical for educators to prevent and change student behavior. This workshop provides participants with the foundational tools necessary to understand behavior functionally and respond to behavior appropriately. Concepts covered include antecedents, behavior & consequences (ABCs), functions of behavior, and functional-based interventions. This workshop is ideal for paraprofessionals, behavior classroom teachers, new general and special education classroom teachers, administrators, and experienced teachers looking to improve their PBIS implementation. The Texas Education Agency's (TEA) T.I.E.R. Network (Tiered Interventions using Evidence-Based Research) has developed guidelines for the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is an evidence-based, three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all data, systems, and practices to support students' needs. The PBIS framework identifies classroom management as a key piece of universal behavior intervention. The implementation of evidence-based classroom management interventions, such as well-defined expectations and procedures, can prevent challenging behaviors in the classroom. Participants will hear Texas' guidelines for implementing universal PBIS strategies and take a deep dive into classroom organization and behavior management techniques to reduce inappropriate and off-task behaviors and create a positive behavior support system to improve student behavioral outcomes. This workshop is ideal for new general and special education classroom teachers and experienced teachers looking to improve their PBIS implementation.
This workshop is primarily for Rusk ISD.
