This interactive workshop is designed to equip educators working in self-contained classrooms with practical tools and strategies to effectively support student behavior. Participants will explore the unique behavioral challenges that can arise in self-contained settings and learn how to apply proactive, preventative, and responsive techniques tailored to the needs of students with significant disabilities. Topics will include understanding the function of behavior, designing structured environments, implementing positive behavior supports, using visual supports and routines, and responding to challenging behaviors with consistency and compassion. Whether you are new to a self-contained setting or looking to strengthen your behavioral practices, this session will provide actionable insights and resources to create a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for all students. The workshop is primarily for Kilgore ISD.
