Math That Makes Sense: Developing Mathematical Reasoning (Grades 6-12)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Grounded in the work of Pam Harris (keynote speaker from Making Math Memorable), this session shows how developing mathematical reasoning doesn’t require a total instructional overhaul—just the right small shifts. Teachers will explore simple, high-impact shifts that help students make sense of math, see relationships, and rely less on memorized steps. Walk away with practical, classroom-ready moves you can use immediately to spark deeper thinking and stronger understanding.

***This session builds the instructional foundation for routines that deepen numeracy and naturally lead into Math That Makes Sense: Using Problem Strings to Build Powerful Numeracy (Grades 6–12), where these ideas come to life through a concrete, classroom-ready routine.***
