Evidence-Based Teaching Methods for Students with Moderate to Severe Autism 26-27

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Students with autism often benefit from tailored teaching approaches to support their academic, daily living, and social skill development. Research highlights the effectiveness of two Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)-based strategies: Natural Environment Teaching (NET) and Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT). These methods can be seamlessly integrated with evidence-based interventions such as preference assessments, reinforcement techniques, visual supports, token economies, and task analysis. This interactive workshop equips participants with the skills to implement these approaches effectively. Through hands-on practice, attendees will learn to use NET to address Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals across diverse activities, with an emphasis on strategies to promote the generalization and maintenance of skills. Participants will also gain experience applying DTT to teach various skills, incorporating other proven strategies, and ensuring that learned behaviors are sustained over time and across different settings. By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to empower students with autism to acquire, generalize, and maintain new skills for long-term success.
