Integrating Physical Education and Orientation & Mobility for Student Success AM
This engaging and practical workshop explores the powerful connection between physical education (PE) and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) in supporting students who are blind or visually impaired. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how movement-based instruction in PE naturally reinforces essential O&M skills such as body awareness, spatial orientation, balance, coordination, and safe, efficient travel.

Empowering Movement: O&M Essentials for Teachers, Staff, and Students (PM)
This interactive workshop equips educators, staff, and students with practical strategies to support Orientation and Mobility (O&M) for individuals with visual impairments. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges students face navigating school environments and learn how to create inclusive, accessible experiences using the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Through hands-on activities, real-world scenarios, and engaging demonstrations, attendees will explore effective teaching techniques, mobility tools, and sensory-based instructional strategies that promote independence and confidence. The session also provides ready-to-use resources and ideas for developing impactful 30–60 minute O&M awareness presentations for classrooms and school communities.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be prepared to foster inclusive environments, support safe and independent travel, and empower students with visual impairments to navigate their world successfully.
