Unlocking Big Words: Phonics for Intermediate Learners

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Phonics instruction does not stop in the primary grades—it evolves. In intermediate classrooms, phonics becomes more strategic, targeted, and connected to meaning. This workshop equips teachers with practical, research-based approaches to strengthen students’ decoding, spelling, and word analysis skills in grades 3–5.

Participants will explore how to move beyond basic letter-sound relationships into advanced phonics patterns, including multisyllabic word reading, syllable types, morphology (prefixes, suffixes, roots), and word structure. The session emphasizes the connection between phonics and fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—helping students tackle increasingly complex texts with confidence.
