RLA Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This two-day professional learning experience provides Texas educators with an engaging exploration of the Reading Language Arts Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RLA RBIS) and their role in strengthening high-quality, grade-level instruction. Participants will examine the four RLA RBIS—Foundational Skills, Text Complexity, Knowledge Coherence, and Text-Based Responses—and explore what each looks and sounds like in effective classroom practice. Through collaborative activities, instructional examples, and classroom scenarios, teachers will connect the RBIS to the TEKS and high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). Educators will consider how the RBIS work together to increase rigor, build student knowledge and vocabulary, and strengthen reading, writing, and speaking grounded in evidence. Participants will leave with practical strategies and actionable next steps for applying the RBIS within their own instructional setting.
