Workshop Registration Details

Join Panola College Professor Amanda Clements for an immersive six hour workshop exploring **Kinusaiga**, a traditional Japanese textile art technique often described as “no sew” patchwork. Participants will learn how to transform fabric scraps into intricate, textured artwork by carving designs into foam boards and carefully tucking fabric into the grooves to create a finished piece with a mosaic like appearance.

Throughout the workshop, participants will explore the history and cultural roots of Kinusaiga, learn techniques for planning and transferring designs, practice working with foam and fabric, and develop skills for creating depth, texture, color, and visual balance. The extended workshop format will allow participants time to move beyond basic techniques and complete a detailed Kinusaiga artwork of their own.

This hands on experience is designed for educators who want to explore a unique art form that can be adapted for secondary art classrooms and interdisciplinary learning. Participants will leave with a completed artwork, new textile art techniques, and ideas for incorporating Kinusaiga into classroom instruction.
