The Little Readers, Big Dreams training offered by the Region One Education Service Center is a professional development program designed for early childhood teachers, especially those working in Early Childhood Special Education. The purpose of the training is to help teachers strengthen young children’s early literacy skills and prepare them to become successful readers. During the training, teachers learn how to create a literacy-rich classroom environment that encourages language and reading development. It focuses on important early reading skills such as phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, and understanding how print works. Educators are also taught strategies to support students with different learning needs through differentiated and hands-on instruction. Overall, the training provides practical, research-based strategies that teachers can use in their classrooms to help young children build strong foundations in reading and develop a love for books and learning.
