New ELPS & Dual Language 101: Building Language and Content in the 5th Grade Classroom

This professional learning session will introduce 5th-grade Dual Language teachers to the new English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and explore practical strategies for integrating language development with grade-level content. Teachers will strengthen their understanding of the new ELPS, language objectives, and proficiency expectations while learning how to support multilingual learners through purposeful academic language, scaffolding, student interaction, and effective language practices. Participants will leave with practical tools and strategies they can immediately apply in their 5th-grade Dual Language classrooms to promote both content mastery and English language development.
