Workshop Registration Details

The Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA) is the onboarding course for new faculty, providing important knowledge regarding the College, guidance, and an opportunity to develop a close-knit support system. Topics covered include South Texas College’s mission, philosophy, culture, and student demographics. Participants will also learn about important student and faculty policies and resources, the faculty evaluation process, as well as effective teaching and active learning strategies and techniques Resources available to faculty and their students at South Texas College
During the fall semester, new faculty will learn about STC culture, policies, faculty advising, and evaluation processes. In the spring semester, faculty will be provided with in-depth training on the andragogy and pedagogy, contextualized in the teaching and learning environment. Participants will implement proven instructional strategies learned in the Academy to create an engaging environment for student success. Faculty will also learn to incorporate authentic assessments, employ reflective practices, collaborate with a professional learning community and integrate technology. TLA will culminate with the Great Teacher’s Seminar at the end of the Spring semester.

PARTICIPATION
Participation in the Teaching & Learning Academy is required for all new full-time faculty at South Texas College.
