Workshop Registration Details

Faculty advising is vital to student success at South Texas College. This comprehensive training program covers essential advising skills and knowledge, including degree and curriculum requirements, campus resources, advising theories, Degree Works technology, and practical advising scenarios.
The training consists of nine sessions, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours, held on Thursday afternoons. By the end of the program, participants will be equipped to confidently advise, mentor, and refer students to appropriate resources.
Sessions are conducted live online via Microsoft Teams and are also recorded for later viewing. Participants can earn credit by engaging with the live or recording sessions. Access to the recorded sessions will remain available until the last day of the current semester (May 15, 2025).
To receive certification, participants must complete at least 90% of the sessions, which may include a combination of live and recorded attendance. Upon successful completion, participants will be officially certified as 'Faculty Advisors'.
Full-time staff members who frequently interact with students are strongly encouraged to participate. Faculty and staff are also encouraged to re-certify if more than two years have passed since their last certification, although re-certification is not mandatory.
