Child Find, Changes, and Challenges: Informal Data Collection

Dr. Edward Schultz from Midwestern University will be discussing how Texas has gone through significant changes in the last three years (Corrective Action Plan, COVID19, Single Pathway Dyslexia, and Changes to Legal Framework) which has placed greater importance on using informal data prior to and as part of the referral process. Topics will include what data is required, how to collect it, and tools available that do not place any “extra” burden on teachers. Child Find Responsibilities will also be highlighted. This session is designed for principals, SST members, Counselors, etc. involved in the referral process of special education to understand an implement the necessary data collection requirements for the Full and Individual evaluation (FIE).
