A series of six zoom sessions presented by Marie Riley. This session is geared to develop the knowledge and skills of teachers in Domain 1: Planning and Preparation and Domain 2: Classroom Instruction. Participants will learn how to ENGAGE the classroom with this exciting and interactive session that models and teaches numerous research-based high yield instructional strategies for both synchronous and asynchronous learning through brain-based activities. These strategies actively engage ALL students and significantly increase learning. Participants will leave this session with a bag full of tools that can be implemented in any subject at all levels. When students are ENGAGED and understand why learning is important to them, they are MOTIVATED. The scientific-based research used in this session is from Barbara Blackburn, Robert Marzano, Marcia Tate, Eric Jensen and William Daggett and states students learn best when they are focused, engaged, and can relate the learning to real-life application thus increasing motivation and academic success. Zoom link and handouts will be emailed to participant after registering.

The focus of this session is developing present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP) development based on student data, drafting annual goals (academic and/or functional) and objectives, if appropriate, and collecting data for reporting progress. Participants will understand the importance of these components and how their alignment results in an appropriate and ambitious individualized education program for students receiving special education and related services. The intended audience for this training is special education teachers, related service providers, and any other professional staff responsible for drafting a student’s IEP, including present levels of academic achievement and functional performance and measurable annual goals. This training was created by the Child Find, Evaluation, and ARD Support Statewide Technical Assistance Network in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency with state and federal grants.

A series of six zoom based professional development opportunities with Marie Riley. This session is geared to develop the knowledge and skills of teachers in Domain 1: Planning and Preparation Domain 2: Instruction and Domain 3: Classroom Environment. In this session participants will transform their classroom into a high-performing learning system where students become self-directed, independent thinkers, problem-solvers and successful! This includes setting classroom direction and utilizing frequent cycles of improvement through Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA’s). Through PDSA’s students set time-bound measurable learning targets, identify strategies to successfully meet the targets, study the results that measure the target, and act on the results. Participants will learn how to successfully use classroom data, individual student data and student-led conferences that can be utilized during parent meetings and/or ARD meetings. This system is the most efficient and effective way to improve classroom learning results. Participants will see actual classroom examples of the components of Classroom Continuous Improvement and develop a draft deployment plan for implementation. The scientific-based research used in this session is from Malcolm Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence which focused on the best current research in what it takes to make schools and classrooms quality learning places for ALL students.
