Social-emotional and behavioral assessment for children and adolescents is a complex process, and the impact of assessment extends beyond the score. Linking assessment data to meaningful intervention can be a challenge. This session seeks to support practitioners in maximizing the benefit of assessment and enhancing progress with interventions linked to assessment data. This presentation will provide background and discussion on the importance of social-emotional and behavioral assessment for young people, a platform for conceptualizing the scope of these evaluations and the value of intervention on outcomes. Participants will review a variety of formal assessment measures designed to evaluate social-emotional and behavioral features (including the Risk Inventory and Strengths Evaluation, Piers-Harris Self-Concept Scale, Third Edition, and others) as well as how these tools can be used to support interventions and treatment plans. Participants will leave with a knowledge of an array of social-emotional and behavioral assessment tools that can be used across a variety of populations as well as interventions and accommodations that can be generated based on assessment. Ashley Arnold with WPS will be presenting the morning session. During monthly PLCs, paraprofessionals will participate in short, focused training sessions designed to strengthen their use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) observed in classrooms. Each session will connect directly to the “look-for” tool used during coaching observations, ensuring training is relevant and practical. This process ensures training is ongoing, practical, and aligned to classroom needs. By embedding EBP training into the monthly PLC cycle, paraprofessionals build confidence, improve consistency, and strengthen their ability to foster independence and success for students in inclusive settings.

Tired of re-explaining your classroom, your standards, and your expectations to AI every single time? In this hands-on summer workshop, teachers will learn how to build custom AI chatbots that work like personalized teaching assistants—trained on your grade level, content, and instructional style. No AI experience? No problem! Participants will design both teacher-facing chatbots (for lesson planning, feedback, differentiation, and prep) and student-facing chatbots that provide guided support, explanations, and practice—without giving away answers or creating chaos. Using tools like Gemini Gems, NotebookLM, MagicSchool, and School AI, you’ll explore when and why each platform makes sense in real classrooms. You’ll leave with at least one ready-to-use chatbot, clear guardrails for safe and effective student use, and the confidence to design AI tools that actually support learning—because one-size-fits-all teaching never worked. It’s time your AI caught up.

This hands-on session guides districts in analyzing student growth measures for content areas not using STAAR and aligning them with teacher observation data from the previous school year. Participants will engage in a collaborative review of local data and compare trends against TEA’s Data Validation Tool (as outlined in the 2025–2026 TIA Guidebook). The goal is to evaluate whether teacher effectiveness ratings based on classroom observations are consistent when compared to student growth outcomes—two pillars of a valid Local Designation System. Key Objectives: • Examine actual district data from one non-STAAR student growth measure • Analyze alignment between T-TESS or other local observation ratings and student outcomes • Identify discrepancies that may trigger data validation issues from TEA • Use the TIA Data Validation Tool as a lens for continuous improvement

Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we read, write, and think—but where does it fit in a middle or high school ELA classroom? In this interactive workshop, teachers will explore practical strategies from AI in the Writing Workshop: Find the Write Balance to help students leverage AI as a tool for growth without losing their authentic voice. Participants will examine real classroom examples, try out AI-supported writing practices, and leave with ready-to-use ideas for lesson design, scaffolding, and assessment. The focus will be on striking a healthy balance: preparing students to use AI responsibly, creatively, and critically while still centering the human skills of reading, writing, and thinking that matter most. Book included! Take it back to your classroom as a resource to reference throughout the year. *This is a repeat session of spring 2026. *Please bring your laptop/chromebook with you. **Participants will have to sign up for some of the AI applications to participate.

Grab your sonic screwdriver and set the coordinates for the Region 15 STEM Expo! We’re about to journey into the time vortex to solve education's greatest puzzle: The STEM Paradox. What is the paradox? It’s the idea that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is often treated as a destination for a select few, when in reality, it's the vehicle that transports all of us. It’s not just a subject; it’s the connective tissue woven through every subject. Join us for a "wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey" day of fantastic sessions, hands-on workshops, and future-ready strategies. You'll leave with practical tools to help your students see the "bigger on the inside" potential of every lesson. The future of West Texas is being built in your classrooms today. For Companions employed by districts in the Region 15 Title II Cooperative Services, your passage is completely free. All other Region 15 explorers can join the expedition for a $25 registration fee. Best of all, you’ll regenerate your professional toolkit with 6 hours GT credit upon completion of the mission. Don’t blink – register for the STEM Expo today!

Please note this is a 3 hour AM session. These modules are geared toward experienced elementary, middle, and high school counselors who seek to learn more about collaborating with their counterparts across grade levels to develop a plan to implement a comprehensive K-12 career advising program that provides all students with career exploration opportunities and supports student access to career and technical education. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs – An Infrastructure for College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) allows school counselors to examine how strong CTE programs can support all students as they prepare for postsecondary success. Participants will explore the components of approved CTE Programs of Study, including coursework, work-based learning opportunities, and industry-based certifications, and understand how these relate to the individual planning components of a comprehensive counseling program. Participants will review the relationship between CTE and programs of study to federal and state legislation (including Perkins V, HB5 - Endorsements, HB3 - Outcomes Bonus Funding, and SB179 - Counseling Duties) and other initiatives. After this module, participants will have a deeper understanding of the value of CTE programs and be better equipped to work with administrators to create the local infrastructure for CCMR driven by data.

You’ll see how early coding builds confidence, supports literacy and math, and helps young learners break down problems and think step by step. No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and get ready to unlock big thinking in small packages. You’ll leave confident, inspired, and fully classroom-ready. And the icing on the cake? Every piece of tech you try is free to check out from Region 15, so you can take the magic straight back to your classroom.

This hands-on session supports districts in analyzing student growth data tied to STAAR assessments and aligning it with teacher observation data from the previous school year. Participants will engage in a guided review of their district’s STAAR-based growth measures and compare them to observation ratings to determine whether the two sources of data accurately and consistently reflect teacher effectiveness. Using TEA’s Data Validation Tool from the 2025–2026 TIA Guidebook, districts will assess their readiness for submission and identify areas that may require refinement to meet validity and reliability expectations. Key Objectives: • Analyze student growth data from STAAR-tested subjects alongside observation data (e.g., T-TESS) • Identify trends, gaps, and potential misalignments in teacher performance ratings • Use the TIA Data Validation Tool to evaluate the coherence of designations • Develop next steps to strengthen data collection and system integrity Who Should Attend: Data analysts and TIA team members responsible for designation decisions and system fidelity.
