Participants will learn the fundamentals of dyslexia intervention through a review of Texas dyslexia laws and current research, as well as best practices in dyslexia instruction. We will delve into evidence-based components of instruction and explore continuums for developing reading ability in students with dyslexia. Participants will learn how to deliver daily intervention utilizing Reading by Design, a systematic, explicit, and intensive reading program. Participants will receive the entire Reading by Design program with supplemental resources necessary for small group instruction. This course requires attendance for 5 full days of training.

Safety-Care provides staff with crisis behavior skills they need to confidently, safely, humanely, and respectfully enhance the lives of students who sometimes exhibit violent or otherwise challenging behaviors. The result can be a dramatic improvement in safety, fewer injuries, and decreased liability. Day 1: Prevention, de-escalation, and physical safety Day 2: physical management, and post-incident procedure Participants are required to get approval from district administration (principal, sped director, or immediate supervisor). Due to the physical elements of STT participants must have the following physical abilities in order to participate: • ability to comfortably perform a series of flexibility exercises • ability to maintain a balanced stance with feet shoulder-width apart and weight on the balls of the feet • ability to perform three fundamental movements of STT (i.e. steps, shuffles and pivots)

Day 1: Asbestos Designated Person 8:30am-5pm This class addresses areas defined in the AHERA regulations for those responsible for the school’s asbestos program. Topics covered include asbestos detection, identification, and assessment; health effects associated with asbestos exposure; control options; relevant federal and state regulations; and management plan components. Meet your House Bill 3 requirements! Virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is designed for adults regularly interacting with young people. This course requires 2 hours self-paced work prior to the 4.5 hours Instructor-led training. The training introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. YMHFA addresses multiple points of the TEC and TEA Best Practices List.
