This conference will provide our teachers with ideas and tools for working with all students of different abilities. We will start off both days with keynote speakers and then breakout sessions that target: Autism, Gen Ed, Instructional Leadership, MTSS/RTI Designs, and Research Based Interventions for students in all tiers including special education and 504.

Presenters: KATIE LANKFORD and VANCE LANKFORD...... In this session, we will briefly discuss vision, orientation and mobility, and deaf and hard of hearing services that are available. We will discuss the Expanded Core Curriculum, the reasons for teaching it, and the requirement to address it in schools. Participants will have the opportunity to gain a new perspective while looking through different vision simulators, learning about O&M services, techniques, and white canes. Low Vision and FM Systems will be discussed, and participants will have hands on experience on how our students who are visually impaired or deaf and hard of hearing access their information through these devices. Participants will look at the devices and how they are used for accessing information at near and distance and how to access information through other channels when one is impaired. Participants will learn how to interact and learn some accommodations for VI or DHH students in their classroom.

This session will discuss and demonstrate over 70 solutions that can be quickly made with 10 different specialty tapes. This includes over 30 solutions that can be made with specialty Velcro products; removable and washable tapes; rapid prototyping tapes; loc-lift RG, silicone tapes and so much more.

Presenters: JOANIE GARRO, MA, BCBA, CT, AND ALEX MCFERREN...... Use of video modeling, scripting, and bug-in-ear technology are evidenced based approaches to teach social skills and other adaptive skills at home, community, and school/work. Individuals that are highly visual learners benefit from breaking down a skill into small steps, practicing the skill, video recording the skill, and then watching themselves or others perform the skill in a movie. In this session, you will learn how to become a film maker using tools such as your phone, camera, or tablet to create your own movie clips. The videos can be used for several purposes for the learner, the instructor/therapist, and the parent as a teaching and assessment tool.
