A bit of what to expect in her presentation of “What it Takes to Lead a School”…
“One of our littlest Tigers lost a shoe at last night’s Meet the Teacher Night. The PreK Principal sent me a picture of this tiny shoe as a reminder of the precious feet that will walk through the doors of our schools tomorrow as we begin a new year. So, I had to make a comparison to my youngest son’s shoe…he’ll start his sophomore year tomorrow. From size 2 to 12, they are all precious feet that will step into our hallways tomorrow with excitement, trepidation, joy, anxiety, & a need for connection and belonging. The feet that will walk our halls tomorrow are connected to big feelings, big hopes, and big dreams. New shoes make us feel some kind of way—optimistic, shiny, peppy. New shoes mean we are growing, and sometimes new shoes pinch and hurt as we break them in…they have to adjust to us and we have to get to know them. But, that little bit of pain is good as it means we are adjusting to the new. Praying for all of the feet who will be walking through the doors of our schools tomorrow—student feet, parent feet, teacher feet, staff feet…and the hearts & minds attached to them!??”
