Wild West Texas Lifestyles of the Ancient Lower Pecos Peoples

Get ready for real Native American Prehistory to come alive with Jessica Hester from Seminole Canyon State Park and Historical Site! The indigenous peoples of West Texas left behind incredible clues through the storytelling found in Lower Pecos style rock art shelters, along with a variety of artifacts that have been found at archeological dig sites. These items provide much insight to how these peoples lived and survived in the extreme wilderness of their times.

Jessica has designed a TEKS-aligned, interactive, and cross-curricular workshop for all teachers of students with diverse learning styles and needs. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that incorporate materials from nature and simple, budget-friendly ideas that will help transform the learning environment into a prehistory learning portal that digs deep back in time!

Participants will leave with lesson plans that accommodate multiple grade levels, as well as a certificate for future FREE day pass admissions to visit Seminole Canyon State Park and Historical Site and are encouraged to take a class field trip upon completing training and classroom implementation of the lesson explorations!

*Teachers at high needs Title I school districts and campuses preferred and encouraged to apply early for this limited space workshop*
