Through the Lens of CTE: Motivating Difficult Students with the Brain in Mind

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

A series of six zoom based professional development opportunities with Marie Riley. This session is geared to develop the knowledge and skills of teachers in Domain 2: Instruction and Domain 3: Classroom Environment. This session will provide strategies for elementary and secondary educators to increase student motivation. The topic will focus on ways to deal with difficult students and all students through brain-based practices, as well as effective ways to build relationships in the educational setting. Managing student behavior remains the number one issue for ALL teachers, but it doesn’t have to be! Participants will learn key behavioral principles and a range of research-based approaches for immediately defusing disruptive situations, avoiding escalation, and correcting behaviors. Strategies will target many specific behaviors and have positive results. Discipline does NOT have to be an issue. This session engaging and hands-on session will offer participants several strategies that will allow them to have classrooms that are orderly, respectful, fun, engaging and motivating! The scientific-based research used in this session is from Geoff Colvin, Kathleen McConnell, Gail Ryser, James Patton Randy Sprick, Harry Wong, Barbara Blackburn, Robert Marzano, Marcia Tate, and Willard Daggett who states students learn best when they are focused, engaged and can relate to learning through real-life application thus increasing motivation, academic success and decreasing difficult behaviors.
