Engaging Generation Z & Building Writing Skills in the Foreign Language Classroom

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

During the morning portion, participants will gain strategies for engaging Generation Z in the language classroom. Participants will deepen their understanding of Generation Z learners, acquire strategies for student engagement in the language classroom, use a thinking frame for designing real world tasks and gain strategies for using social media to engage learners.
In the afternoon, participants will be given the opportunity to dive deeply into the presentational mode and what students can do at each proficiency level. Participants will also practice designing writing prompts for their students and explore ways to intentionally build students’ writing skills in the target language. The workshop will culminate with scoring calibration of student writing products and will be allotted time to begin the task design process.
