K-12 Behavioral Threat Assessment Engagement Event (TEA Office of School Safety and Security)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Please join us as we host the TEA Division of Safety and Security and Paul Smith, Senior Safety Agent of Statewide Behavioral Threat Assessment as he highlights the future of BTA’s for Texas schools, including the BTA Pilot Program launching this year. Superintendents and District BTA coordinators and safety & security directors are encouraged to join us at the BTA Engagement Event to collaborate, share insights, and ensure the Sentinel BTA Pilot Program meets the needs of every LEA across Texas. Your feedback is crucial as we fine-tune this essential tool before its statewide launch for the 25-26 SY.
Paul comes to TEA as a Lieutenant from DPS and played a critical role in establishing their Threat to Life program, which is their version of BTAs. Along with helping establish their program, Paul has played an essential role in supporting schools across the state with conducting threat assessments; he supported over 300 schools with threat assessments this prior year prior to joining TEA.
