Behavior Bites: Functional Communication: The Missing Link Between Behavior and Learning

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Students communicate in many ways—sometimes with words, but often through their behavior. When students lack the skills to express needs, wants, or feelings, challenging behaviors may occur. In this interactive training, educators will explore the link between communication and behavior, learn strategies for teaching and supporting functional communication across settings, and practice ways to respond to behaviors with communication-based supports.

Whether in a general education or special education classroom, participants will leave with practical tools they can immediately apply to help students use their voices—verbal, visual, or alternative—rather than their behavior.
