SPED Classroom Schedules: Building Routines That Work

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Clear, consistent schedules are the foundation of an effective special education classroom. In this in-person Make & Take training, participants will focus on creating functional schedules that support student independence, reduce downtime, and improve overall classroom flow. Teachers will explore whole-group schedules, individual student schedules, First/Then boards, and transition visuals, with an emphasis on how schedules are used throughout the day—not just displayed.

Participants will leave with ready-to-use, laminated materials and a clear plan for where schedules should be placed in the classroom and how staff can consistently implement them. This training is designed for teachers serving students with significant cognitive disabilities across early childhood, elementary, and secondary settings.

Participants will:

Understand the role of schedules in behavior, independence, and instruction

Create whole-group and individual student schedules

Develop First/Then and transition visuals

Learn how to organize and implement schedules within daily classroom routines

Walk away with completed materials ready for immediate use
