THROUGH THE LENS OF CTE: UNDERSTANDING HOW TO HANDLE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IN THE CLASSROOM

This ZOOM session is geared to develop the knowledge and skills of teachers in Domain 1: Planning and Preparation Domain 2: Instruction and Domain 3: Classroom Environment and developing highly effective teachers thus supporting measures to qualify for Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). This impactful session will help participants with the identification of mental or emotional disorders; understand Multitiered System of Support, understand the characteristics of the most prevalent mental or emotional disorders; implement effective strategies for teaching and intervening with students with mental or emotional disorders, including de-escalation techniques and positive behavioral interventions and supports. The scientific-based research used in this session is from the Mental Health Association, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Myles Cooley, Howard Adelman, Linda Taylor, Rick Auger, Frank Kline and Larry Silver.
