LESSON PLANNING FOR A STUDENT-CENTERED CLASSROOM, PART 1

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Before we can create a student-centered classroom, we must know exactly where we’re going. This foundational session is grounded in the T-TESS framework with an emphasis on student-centered learning. Participants will explore strategies from Ambitious Science Teaching, inquiry-based learning, and Building Thinking Classrooms to design coherent, engaging units that meet the needs of all learners. Walk away with a clear plan for structuring lessons, identifying student needs, and intentionally designing learning experiences that set every student up for success. Participants will also take a close look at their own students to identify the range of needs present in their classroom and begin mapping out how differentiation can be woven meaningfully into lesson and unit design. Completion of Part 1, Lesson Planning for a Student-Centered Classroom is required before attending Part 2, Teaching to a Student-Centered Classroom.
