Summer 1: Building the Foundation for Effective Mentoring

Description: Summer I serves as the entry point into Texas Mentorship Training and focuses on establishing the foundational knowledge and skills mentors need to support beginning teachers effectively. Participants will explore the role of the Mentoring Educator, develop an understanding of the Texas Mentoring Educator Competencies, and examine how trust, communication, and relationship-building contribute to successful mentoring partnerships. Mentors will begin learning practical strategies for providing support, navigating common challenges faced by beginning teachers, and creating conditions that promote growth, confidence, and retention throughout the school year.
