Writing Strategies - TCM Professional Development

Small Text, Big Impact - Mentor Texts at Work

Using short passages allows teachers to accomplish multiple goals using the same piece of text.
Reading strong mentor texts leads to better writing, and this writing leads to increased ability in reading.

In this session, learners will:
Analyze mentor texts as platforms for writing topics and examples of author’s craft
Discover innovative ways to help students master and maneuver a variety of modes of writing
Explore how to support and integrate both reading and writing skills with mentor texts
