Secondary Science Instructional Strategies & Inquiry-Based Learning Using SAVVAS (6–12)

This professional development session is designed to support middle school and high school science teachers in strengthening science instructional practices through the effective implementation of the SAVVAS Science curriculum. The session will focus on high-impact, research-based instructional strategies and inquiry-based learning aligned to the science TEKS.

Participants will engage in a deep dive into the SAVVAS 5E lesson model, with an emphasis on increasing rigor, student discourse, and conceptual understanding. Teachers will explore how to move beyond surface-level instruction by leveraging inquiry-based practices that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of scientific concepts.

This session is intended for middle school and high school science teachers (Grades 6–12) implementing SAVVAS curriculums. Including teachers of 6th, 7th, 8th grade science, biology, chemistry, and physics. Department chairs and campus administrators supporting secondary science are also encouraged to attend.
