Workshop Registration Details

Throughout the session, participants will engage in a variety of hands-on, collaborative activities designed to build both knowledge and practical skills. They will begin by participating in an opening icebreaker that surfaces their existing experience with behavioral supports and connects them with colleagues at their tables. As the session moves into content, participants will take part in guided discussions about why behavior is communication and how proactive, evidence-based strategies can transform classroom environments for students with low incidence disabilities. They will work in small groups to design visual supports tailored to fictional student profiles, then share their creations during a gallery walk where they provide feedback to peers. Participants will also build their own token boards using provided materials, rotate through stations covering additional evidence-based practices such as antecedent-based interventions and functional communication training, and collaborate in teams to analyze a complex case study and develop a comprehensive behavior support plan. The session will close with each participant completing an individual action plan identifying one strategy they commit to implementing, along with a brief exit ticket reflecting on their learning.
