Workshop Registration Details

Dual/ ESL curriculum writers will meet in person at their designated location with their Language Development Specialist and/ or content coordinator to implement effective literacy practices for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students.
1. Teachers will conduct an analysis of the ELPS-TELPAS connection, and research TELPAS state/district data trends.
2. Teachers will participate in an in-depth study of the essentials of Second Language Acquisition language and proficiency in social and academic settings including:
a. Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills (BICS) and Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP).
b. Teaching language through content area instruction
3. Teachers will participate in creating additional resources specific to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 21st Century Proficiencies (Literacies), the ELPS proficiency level descriptors (PLDs) for listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and correlating state standards.
4. Teachers will include TELPAS language acquisition item types across language domains.?
5. Teachers will audit their lesson activities to ensure they adhere to the curriculum model.
