This session will bring our team together to kick off the 2025–2026 school year with clear focus and shared purpose. We will start by welcoming new staff members and reviewing campus leadership roles and responsibilities. Together, we’ll analyze our 2024–2025 STAAR, TELPAS, and AP results, reflect on our preliminary accountability report, and identify areas of strength and growth. Participants will engage in a campus vision and mission refresher and collaborate in department-based root cause analysis and goal setting aligned to our Campus Improvement Plan (CIP). In the afternoon, we will review key components of the Teacher and Student Handbooks, including expectations for behavior, dress code, discipline, safety, and planning. The session will also include important updates and guidance on Special Education ARDs, IEPs, accommodations, and 504/RTI supports. By the end of the day, all staff will leave with a clear understanding of our campus goals, policies, and collective priorities for the year ahead.

This half-day session offers teachers a practical and interactive overview of the T-TESS (Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System). The training begins with a TEA introductory video and a discussion to ground participants in the purpose and process of T-TESS. Teachers will review the Texas Teacher Standards, explore the evaluation rubric, and distinguish between required and recommended practices. Through collaborative activities like the placemat consensus and rubric analysis, participants will reflect on effective instruction and how it aligns with evaluation criteria. The second half of the session focuses on the full evaluation cycle, including pre-conferences, lesson observations, scripting, evidence collection, and post-conference conversations. Teachers will practice identifying and categorizing evidence through a model lesson, followed by a guided debrief and roundtable discussion. The session concludes with a reflective summary to help teachers connect the training to their personal growth and instructional goals for the year.

This professional development day is designed to prepare all staff for a strong and confident start to the new school year. The morning will begin with an in-depth review of our Campus Literacy Plan and a refresher on the STAAR Assessment Redesign to ensure alignment in instruction and assessment practices. Teachers will then collaborate in department PLCs to develop and submit their Week One lesson plans, supporting a consistent launch of high-quality instruction. In the afternoon, staff will participate in a series of important sessions focused on building a safe, supportive, and informed campus culture. Topics will include social-emotional support strategies, legal and ethical expectations related to student safety and professional conduct, and updates from health services. The day will conclude with information on site-based decision making, first-day procedures, community partnerships with United Way, and essential reminders regarding workplace safety, Workers’ Compensation, and FMLA. By the end of the day, all staff will be equipped with the tools, plans, and knowledge needed to welcome students and set a positive tone for the year ahead.
