Promoting Emotional Understanding: Supporting Children’s Social & Emotional Development

This session explores practical strategies for helping young children recognize, understand, and express their emotions. Participants will learn how to intentionally label feelings, encourage children to talk about emotions, and help children make connections between feelings, actions, and experiences. Through examples and interactive activities using books, songs, pretend play, and everyday classroom situations, participants will gain practical tools for supporting children’s emotional vocabulary, self-expression, and appropriate responses to emotions.

Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 teachers, early childhood educators, and childcare caregivers.
