Workshop Registration Details

"How do we ensure multilingual learners are mastering both academic language and rigorous grade-level content? With the release of the new 2026–2027 English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), teachers must intentionally design instruction that develops language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while meeting TEKS expectations.
During the morning session, participants will explore the updated ELPS framework, including the five proficiency levels (Pre-Production, Beginning, Intermediate, High Intermediate, and Advanced) and the expectations for language development across the four domains. Teachers will also examine how the revised ELPS are now embedded across all content areas: Math, Science, Social Studies, and ELA/Reading, ensuring language development is integrated into every classroom.

In the afternoon session, participants will apply their understanding of the new ELPS through the Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) framework. Teachers will learn how to design lessons that maintain rigorous content standards, make instruction comprehensible, and support multilingual learners in producing meaningful academic language. The focus will be on building student output and moving learners toward higher levels of language proficiency without lowering the rigor of the curriculum.

Participants will leave with practical strategies, planning tools, and a CBLI-aligned lesson plan they can immediately implement in their classrooms."
