Do you want to be “IN COMPLIANCE” with your gifted program requirements? It starts with the required professional development. Not only do teachers need their thirty (30) hours of G/T professional development and an annual six (6) hour update, but administrators also need training. The Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students, 2019 states that: Administrators and counselors who have authority for service decisions are required to complete a minimum of six (6) hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students and service options for gifted/talented students (19 TAC §89.2(5)).
