Workshop Registration Details

CPR - Staff will learn/review the most updated evidence based practice for CPR. By the end of training nurses will have the knowledge to take care of a person who needs CPR and when to call for emergency medical services
STOP THE BLEED - Staff will learn/review the most updated evidence based practice used to help STOP THE BLEED. The person next to a bleeding victim may very well be the one who’s most likely to save him or her from bleeding to death. By learning how to STOP THE BLEED, you’ll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding once you learn three quick techniques.
Naloxone (NARCAN) - Nurses will review Senate Bill 629 that requires public middle and high schools to store Narcan and train staff to administer it, common types of opioids used, how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, demonstrate how to administer the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone.
DIABETES - Nurses will learn/review the disease process for diabetes, the common types of diabetes we see in school, diabetic medications such as insulin & glucagon administration, carbohydrate counting, signs and symptoms of low/high blood sugar, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, long term complications of diabetes, guidelines on when to call emergency medical services, & 504 recommendations.
SEIZURES - Nurses will learn/review the disease process for seizures, types of seizures, auras, what to do and not do during a seizure, emergency medication such as diazepam, vagal nerve stimulation magnet, when to call emergency medical services, 504 recommendations.
ASTHMA - Nurses will learn/review the disease process for asthma, signs and symptoms, rescue inhaler medications, nebulizers, oxygen saturation levels, guidelines when to call 911, 504 recommendations.
ALLERGIES - Nurses will learn/review the disease process for anaphylaxis, signs and symptoms, common triggers, medication administration such as bronchodilators, antihistamines, steroids and epipens, guidelines on when to call emergency medical services & 504 recommendations.
MEDICATION ADMINISTARTION - Nurses will learn/review medication administration guidelines, RGCGISD medication policy, 7 rights of medication administration, medication administration procedures & medication error immediate action.
HEALTH CONDITIONS - Nurses will learn/review common illness seen in a school setting. After the training nurses will have gained the knowledge to care for medical conditions discussed in a school setting.
