Special Education Training for Elementary and Middle School Counselors Day 2

This training will provide elementary and middle school counselors with essential knowledge and strategies to effectively support students receiving special education services. Topics will include understanding the special education referral and evaluation process, ARD committee responsibilities, accommodations and modifications, behavioral and social-emotional supports, discipline considerations, Child Find requirements, and collaboration with families and special education staff. The training will also emphasize early intervention, appropriate documentation, restorative practices, and strategies counselors can use to address student behavior, attendance, emotional well-being, and academic concerns. The goal is to strengthen counselors’ ability to support students with disabilities while promoting inclusive practices, positive behavior, and successful student outcomes.
