RISD Suicide Prevention (SOS), MH Crisis Protocols, & Overview of Child Sexual Abuse

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Participants will participate in a workshop on SOS (suicide prevention) and district crisis protocols. Participants will learn about SOS Signs of Suicide. “SOS” is a universal, school-based suicide prevention program designed for middle and high school students. The goal of this program is to decrease suicides/suicide attempts by increasing student and staff knowledge and attitudes about depression. It is meant to encourage student willingness to ask for help if needed. Also, participants will be briefed on ROMA ISD Crisis Protocols for this upcoming year in relation to mental health needs. The second vital portion of this workshop will focus on an overview of Child Sexual Abuse. Participants will learn how to recognize, respond and report child sexual abuse. The goal of this training is to emphasize the importance of reporting any type of suspected child abuse. Texas educators are required by law to report abuse. Protection and early intervention can make all the difference in a child’s life.
