Youth Mental Health First Aid (Y-MHFA) is a public education program that teaches individuals how to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. It equips people with the skills to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health issue until professional help is obtained.
