Region 7 School Base Law Enforcement & Armed School Security Workshop

Santa Fe ISD Police Chief Walter Braun and Assistant Chief Gary Forward will speak about lessons learn from the 2018 Santa Fe ISD school shooting tragedy. Consequently, Chief Braun headed the response for the worse K-12 shooting ever in a Texas school that resulted in eight students and two teachers dead and thirteen injured. The 86th Texas legislature responded with multiple laws, which gave rise to the school safety legislative changes found in SB11. Participants will have a unique opportunity to learn, discuss, and ask questions in regards to the management of an evolving catastrophic event and the recovery efforts. Food trucks will be here that day for lunch.
