The Texas Education Agency's (TEA) T.I.E.R. Network (Tiered Interventions using Evidenced Based Research) has developed guidelines for the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all data, systems, and practices to support students' needs. The PBIS framework identifies classroom management as a key piece of universal behavior intervention. The implementation of evidence-based classroom management interventions, such as well-defined expectations and procedures, can prevent challenging behaviors in the classroom. Participants will hear Texas’ guidelines for implementing universal PBIS strategies and take a deep dive into classroom organization and behavior management techniques to reduce inappropriate and off-task behaviors and create a positive behavior support system to improve student behavioral outcomes. This workshop is ideal for new general and special education classroom teachers and experienced teachers looking to improve their PBIS implementation.

This is Part 3 of a three-part series for NEW administration and teams. Part 3 is the second half of the T.I.E.R. Essentials Leadership Module: Assessment. Another critical component of the MTSS Leadership module is the assessments used to drive effective data-based decisions. District and campus leadership teams must be on the same page regarding improving overall accountability. When an effective data management system is in place, district leaders, campus leaders, and teachers are able to use data to differentiate instruction and interventions based on students’ strengths and needs. This will produce more effective goal-setting and monitoring of student progress to achieve individual student growth. Attendees will be able to participate in this webinar in their district via the Zoom link provided in the registration confirmation email.

Texas has continued developing guidance with implementing the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS, if done with fidelity and evidence-based interventions, can provide useful data about the level of support a student needs. This workshop will target three specific modules developed by the state network TIER: a) the Universal Screener, (b) Progress Monitoring, and (c) Data-Driven Decision Making. These critical components of a three-tiered framework provided the evidence needed to determine if the student is responding positively and closing the gap between their performance and their same-aged peers. We will also review Senate Bill 1153 and how we document what interventions and supports students receive to determine if they are responding academically and behaviorally. Attendees will be able to participate in this webinar in their district via the Zoom link provided in the registration confirmation email.
