Autism Safety for School Based Law Enforcement Officer

Complete Attendance

This course will provide the school resource officer(SRO) with an understanding of autism and how students with autism behave, communicate, and react in various situations. It will address the dangers of elopement and wandering incidents involving autistic students. Additionally, the training will provide useful suggestions in handling high-risk and crisis incidents involving autistic students, to include de-escalation techniques to defuse potentially volatile situations. Furthermore, the training will provide useful tips and strategies for conducting interviews with autistic students who might be a victim, witness, or suspect of a crime. All attendees will receive a training certificate from Autism Safety 101, Inc. for successfully completing the course.
