Fluency and Comprehension in Secondary ELAR classrooms - Ore City ISD

Reading is complex and requires that we work with the metacognitive process of readers and fill their toolboxes with the skills needed to first comprehend what they are reading. According to our district data, students struggle to make inferences and support their ideas with evidence. In this workshop, teachers will learn specifically why comprehension breaks down & how to support students at all grade levels in improving their reading comprehension. Teachers will leave with routines to assist students in making connections, visualizing, and interacting with texts in order to take the logical step to inferencing.
