Phonics Basic Training for Elementary K-5

Reading comprehension is the bi-product of decoding and language comprehension. If students cannot access the print from the page through the act of decoding, they will have limited to no comprehension of the text. This workshop will focus on providing participants with the background of phonics instruction, beginning with the alphabetic principle and extending along the continuum through morphology. These skills are foundational to readers. The understanding of the content and knowledge of evidence based practices will equip students with the skills to "crack the code" for reading increasingly complex texts.
